Two leading Cornish businesses are holding a free seminar next month to inform guests about effective Inheritance Tax (IHT) Planning, with a charity golf putting competition to help the event to get into full swing.

Coodes Solicitors and Robinson Reed Layton Chartered Accountants and Chartered Tax Advisers are inviting clients to Killiow Golf Course on Friday 24th September, for an afternoon which will start with some simple putting fun to raise funds for Age Concern.

Guests will then be introduced to Inheritance Tax Planning by Paul Reed and James Bailey – Partners at Robinson Reed Layton and Jonathan Eade and Louise Southwell – Partners at Coodes Solicitors.

They will explain principles such as when IHT is payable, how it is calculated, and techniques for reducing its impact, from basic “good housekeeping” to more advanced planning strategies. There will also be advice on more general planning for the future, on matters such as Wills, Powers of Attorney, and Care Home fees.

A free “health check” will be available for all delegates to find out their potential Inheritance Tax liability and how they can take steps to reduce it, and guests will be able to ask any questions before the afternoon concludes with a cream tea.

Jonathan Eade, Partner at Coodes said “We are delighted to be teaming up with Robinson Reed Layton – we like the fact that they are a local organisation like ourselves with a strong presence in the local business community. Planning for your future is vital. There is going to be a great deal of useful tips and advice which will help you plan your finances so that loved ones do not lose out”

James Bailey, Tax Partner at Robinson Reed Layton, said “We are delighted to be working with Coodes to hold this important seminar. With the threshold for IHT fixed at £325,000 for the next five years, there is an increasing need for planning to minimise the bite that the Treasury will take out of your legacy to your family.”

Places at this complimentary seminar are limited so to reserve your space please email suzanne.skerry@coodes.co.uk or nick.skerratt@rrl-truro.co.uk or telephone 01726 874700 / 01872 276116 before 10th September
