Around 50 delegates from Cornwall’s charity sector attended a seminar hosted by Robinson Reed Layton at the Penventon Park Hotel, Redruth on 24th October 2006.

Partner Richard Robinson and Manager Mark Williams from Robinson Reed Layton covered a number of topics including the charity Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP), the role of trustees and a general charities update.

Guest speakers Tom Sheridan and George Winters from Seven Investment Management spoke on charity investment.

Richard Robinson commented: “We were very pleased to see so many trustees and employees from charities. It is a sector undergoing a huge amount of change in the way it works and is accountable. We considered some of the practical problems arising from applying the new charity SORP, reviewed the forthcoming Charities Act and looked at some areas where charities often experience problems such as VAT and gift aid.”
