Tax Partner

James is the firm’s Tax Partner. A Chartered Tax Adviser, he has a national reputation for his work on taxation issues, and regularly writes articles on tax planning for various journals as well as making TV and radio appearances.

James is a former Inland Revenue Deputy District Inspector of a large London tax district, leading tax investigations into national companies and prominent individuals. On leaving the Inland Revenue, James worked with two of the ‘Big Four’ accounting firms, specialising in tax planning for family companies and wealthy individuals.

As well as helping accountants and solicitors with their clients’ tax affairs, James also advises family businesses and wealthy individuals on tax planning, and offers help in dealing with tax investigations.

James is very keen on shooting, and says that training his gundogs makes a welcome contrast to dealing with HM Revenue and Customs officials. Though he lacks basic kitchen skills, his game cookery has been described as “inspired”.

He enjoys reading, particularly crime novels and political thrillers, and is sure that one day he will finish the Daily Telegraph crossword in under ten minutes.

Nick is a proud Cornishman who enjoys playing cricket for his local team, St Just.

Having qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2007, Nick qualified as a Chartered Tax Adviser in 2008. Nick specialises in personal tax, inheritance tax, capital gains tax and corporation tax as well as limited company and sole trader accounts.

Nick enjoys most sports and at the weekend likes to relax with his wife and friends in his local pub.

Chartered Tax Adviser

Jo joined the firm in 2003. After qualifying as a Chartered Accountant, Jo qualified as a Chartered Tax Adviser in 2008.

Jo specialises in personal and corporate tax compliance as well as capital gains tax and inheritance tax matters. She also deals with a number of the firm’s trust clients.

Jo is a keen runner and occasional triathlete and competes for local club Mounts Bay Harriers. When not out running she enjoys walking the dog, and likes nothing better than being up to her ears in mud at a music festival.

Chartered Tax Adviser

Polly joined the firm as a Chartered Accountant trainee in July 2001 having achieved a first class degree in Mineral Engineering. She qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2004 and went on to specialise in taxation.

Polly qualified as a Chartered Tax Adviser in 2005 and is now a key member of the firm’s tax team. She has a general knowledge of both personal and corporate taxation and is responsible for managing the firm’s trust clients.

Polly is a keen sailor in her spare time and regularly takes part in local racing.

Dan graduated with a first class degree in Economics before joining the firm in May 2008.
After passing all of his exams at the first attempt Dan qualified as a Chartered Accountant and joined the Tax Team in 2012 to allow him to specialise in tax and add Chartered Tax Adviser to his qualifications.
He is also becoming involved in the administration of estates.
Dan is a keen sportsman and balances his spare time between playing 6-a-side football and surfing off the local beaches.
